Police Officer locks up commercial motorcyclist

A Police officer, whose identity is still unknown, has reportedly locked up a motorcyclist (Okada rider) at Agbooba area of Ilorin last week.

Pilot Crime gathered that the motorcyclist, identified as Abdulakeem Azeez, was robbed by some unsuspected armed robbers in his apartment and carted away the sum of N20,000 and his motorcycle.

Azeez, who was said to have bought the motorcycle on hired purchase from the police officer based on the agreement that he should pay in instalment.

According to Azeez, before he was arrested by the Police Officer, he bought the motorcycle for the sum of N240,000 and was to pay for a period of one year.

“I and a neighbour were robbed by some unsuspected robbers; money and two motorcycles were taken away from us. I bought the motorcycle based on an agreement of instalmental payment, I am to pay for a period of one year and I have paid half of the money that is N120,000”.

“It is a Police officer, whose name I cannot disclose that gave me the opportunity to own a motorcycle, when the issue of the robbery attack occurred, I told him but he did not believe me thinking that I liaised with the robbers, right now I don’t know my fate”.

Also, another victim in the area, Adetunji Opeyemi also narrated his own ordeal of how the attack went.

“My apartment was first robbed in the building before Azeez’s room was burgled, four robbers came into my apartment, two carried guns and the other two carried machete, I was scared when they demanded for the amount of money I have in the house, I could not talk as the key of my motorcycle was sighted on the table and it was picked up”.

“The sum of N20,000 was collected from my wife, the money was suppose to be used for the running of her business”.

It was gathered that Azeez has been arrested by the Police Officer and detained at Adewole Police Station.

All effort to reach the Police officer proved abortive as his contact could not be gotten as those contacted are shying away from giving our Reporter his details.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ajayi Okasanmi denied being aware of the incident and claimed he was going to confirm the story.
