I bought RAV 4 Jeep for N250,000 - Car theft suspect

One of the suspected car robbers who was paraded by the Kwara State Police Command on Wednesday claimed that he was not a robber.
The suspect, who is identified as Alhaji Oba Suleiman, told News men that he only bought the Rav 4 Jeep for only N250,000 when the seller came to advertise the car to him.
According to him, “I bought this golden Rav 4 for only N250,000 from Olayinka Jimoh and I don’t even have an idea that it was a stolen vehicle, before I got it, the vehicle was sold to me as a “tokunbo” car that was gotten from Cotonu”.

Also, Jimoh, who confessed to have sold the vehicle to Suleiman, said that the vehicle was stolen from Kwara - Bode Saadu area.
“The Jeep was stolen from Bode Saadu area, and I tried to change the look of the vehicle by removing the windscreen, side mirror and every other thing that has the inscription of the owners’ plate number details. Unfortunately, the police got hold of the person I sold the vehicle to under the pretence that the vehicle is brought in from cotonu”.
Also arrested is Kehinde Oluomo, who was said to have stolen a Toyota comfort from Oyo State.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP. Ajayi Okasanmi, who confirmed that
“Vehicles thieves, especially from Lagos, Ogun and Oyo States were arrested at Ilorin by the team of Anti car theft of the command and investigation revealed that the suspects are confirmed car snatchers”.
“The suspects led the team to recover five different exotic cars from different locations, the suspects include, Kehinde Oluomo, Alhaji Oba Suleiman and Olayinka Jimoh”.
“Exhibits recovered are One Mazda 626 car Reg. No. Mus 995DC, Rav 4 Toyota Jeep Reg. ARP123 MY, Paragon Volkwagen Bus Eq 819 ABY, Toyota Comfort Reg. NO BB855 MWR and Toyota Haice Bus Reg. No APP965 CX”.
