*It’s not true – Party

The Kwara state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may have concluded plans to assemble what it described as incriminating documents in the state with the intention of forwarding petitions to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja, National Pilot has gathered.

This medium was reliably informed that the state chapter of the PDP discretely inaugurated a-16-man party loyalists on Saturday 18th July, at Freedom House along Adewole road Ilorin, to perfect the exercise.

Freedom House is the operational office of a chieftain of the party in the state, and the edifice was also allegedly deployed to send unsolicited election messages and calls during the last gubernatorial election.

The 16-member body was allegedly drawn by the party across the 16 local government areas of the state, with each local government producing a member each.

According to findings by this medium, each member was said to have been commissioned by the party to each coordinate their various local governments and liaise with members of the state’s civil service, with the aim of “leaking incriminating official documents”.

A member of the team, who spoke with this medium on condition of anonymity, because of the sensitivity of the issue, bragged that the PDP will ‘bring down’ the APC leadership structure in the state with its planned numerous and damaging petitions, which will shake the state APC to its foundation.

Speaking further, the source described the state PDP as already preparing for the 2019 election by working underground to decimate the APC in the state with petitions and expanding its membership base.

“On our inauguration, which was done discretely, we were strictly informed to work from underground without being noticed. Only a few selected leaders of the party are in the know.

“The PDP is ready to bring down the leadership structure of the APC with damaging documents, which will be backed with petitions to the anti-graft agency. I am one of the coordinators in one of the local governments and have since started work.

“Our 16-member committee was inaugurated on the second day of Sallah at the Freedom House and we were given marching orders to liaise with some civil servants, who can assist with some incriminating official documents”, the source added.

The committee, National Pilot also gathered, was allegedly given a timeframe of October 2015 to submit all documents it has gathered and have allegedly recorded some major successes at the local government level.

According to a highly placed source, who also craved anonymity while speaking on the matter, “Our target is the state and local government, while we have made tremendous success in the LGs with staffs and contractors freely volunteering documents...

...“At the state level however, the major target is Ministries of Finance, Works and Transport, among others. The first ministry is in-charge of the state’s revenue, while the latter executes all government projects, Harmony Holdings is also under the searchlight as most government properties are under its care, added the source.

It would be recalled that the state chairman of the PDP, Iyiola Oyedepo, on Thursday in Ilorin, launched a book titled “Letter to the Emir”, allegedly criticising the government of the state on issues of governance, among others.

Also, some party chieftains who featured in a PDP radio programme tagged “PDP Gbode”, on Thursday, had allegedly hinted on the commencement of petitions soon against the APC led government to the EFCC and reportedly called on people with such evidences to come forward with their proofs.

But in a telephone chat yesterday, the state’s PDP chairman, Iyiola Oyedepo, neither confirmed nor denied the allegation.

When prodded if he is officially saying there is nothing of such, he simply replied severally “I don’t know anything about that”.

Also reacting to the allegation, the party’s publicity Secretary, Chief Rex Olawoye, described it as blatant lie, adding that the party is too big to start digging up documents with the aim of destroying personalities.

He said, “It is nothing but a blatant lie; we are too big a party to start digging up documents with the aim of destroying personalities. Ours is to offer constructive criticism and make sure that whatever they (APC led state government) do that is not in the interest of the masses, we will be loud in our resistance while we will also offer our alternative.

“We have never at anytime gathered anybody or a group of persons to compile up incriminating evidence.

...“Though if a member of our party wants to write petition against them, we wouldn’t stop them, they will however be doing so in their personal capacity and not on behalf of the party” he added.
