* Apex bank confirms Somefun as Unity Bank MD
The Presidency has directed that some key departments in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) be overhauled and reorganised urgently along the line of effectiveness, efficiency and transparency, Watchdog reporters.net has reported.
This follows reports from Bankers Committee recently that some staff of the apex bank are practically idle carrying files from one desk to other pursuing unsubstantiated claims, which usually claim several hours that could have been employed into productive service.
Added to this, the report said that presidency has been briefed that the present crop of image makers of the CBN , under the leadership of Mr. Godwin Emefiele are not adding value to the present policy of the apex bank , as it affects the ongoing move to sanitise the foreign exchange (Forex) system.

Some of the staff in the corporate affairs, the online platform news learned, do not have sufficient knowledge as it relates to image making. “If you have been following events in the bank, you would have noticed that the present CBN governor is being under reported on the activities of the apex institution when compared with the era of governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi” an insider said.
Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Nigeria has confirmed the appointment of Mrs. Tomi Somefun as the new Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Unity Bank Plc.
The confirmation came on the heels of the departure of the immediate past MD, Mr. Henry Semenitari, who resigned his appointment with the bank last month.
Somefun's confirmation, according to a statement by Unity Bank, was contained in a letter dated August 10, 2015, and signed by the CBN Director of Banking Supervision, Mrs. Tokunbo Martins.
An experienced professional with a depth of experience and knowledge of the Finance Industry, the statement said Somefun had over three decades of cognate experience of which 26 years were in the banking sector.
She was said to have started her career in Accounting and Financial Consulting with Peat Marwick & Co, and subsequently Arthur Andersen & Co (now KPMG).
Somefun was also said to have worked in several areas across the industry, spanning Treasury and Institutional Banking, Investment Banking, Retail and Commercial Banking.
Prior to her appointment, she was the Executive Director responsible for Lagos and South West Regional Operations, and oversight on Treasury and Financial Institutions Division.
