Strong facts yesterday emerged on how the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu failed in his alleged plot to pocket President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, National Pilot has learnt.

Tinubu, according to a source who is very close to the seat of power in Abuja, had allegedly plotted how to pocket Buhari using the Vice President’s office as well as leaderships of the National Assembly to dictate and the control Nigeria’s seat of power.

Recall that VP, Prof Yemi Osinbajo was Tinubu’s anointed candidate, while the former Lagos Governor’s move to install the leadership of the Senate and House of Representatives, according to those in the know, were part of his alleged plot to bring the presidency under his control.

However, the emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki as the President of the 8th Senate and his counterpart at the House of Representatives, Hon Yakubu Dogara, it was gathered, had foiled Tibunu’s ground plot.

Tinubu had played major roles in the scheming and powerplay that led to the National Assembly controversial election, which has left the ruling APC in yet-to-be-resolved crisis.

The former Lagos Governor backed Senator Ahmed Lawan (Yobe North) for Senate President and Hon Femi Gbajabiamia for Reps Speaker against Saraki in the keenly contested National Assembly elections.

Those in know had maintained that Tinubu allegedly induced the National Working Committee (NWC) APC with N2billion which led to the purported mock primary election that produced Lawan as party’s sole candidate.

Tinubu’s camp in the APC which include Unity Forum Senators of the senate and Gbajabiamila’s faction in the House of Representatives purportedly suffered a major setback in the national assembly leadership tussle after they lost out to the camp of Saraki.

Since the incidence, the former Lagos governor has reportedly plummeted drastically in political ratings as many analysts and critics have accused him of festering the crisis because of over ambition.

Some of his loyalists like the publisher of Ovation Magazine and celebrated columnist, Chief Dele Momodu has also reportedly publicly criticised over the issue whose wife is currently representing Lagos Central in the Senate.

“The plan of the former Lagos Governor was to put rings around the President from where he can control things.

“Since he himself lost out of the Vice Presidency ticket, he had been scheming to have his men around the president in a tripartite arrangement where his men will emerge as the Vice-President, Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives.

“The plan was a grand design which includes having his way in the appointments of aides and ministers that would expectedly work with the president.

“This is the more reason while he fought tool and nail to ensure that Saraki and by extension Dogara failed in their bids to preside over the upper and lower chambers of the National Assembly

“However, the emergence of Senate President, Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Yakubu Dogara checkmated that ambition”, the source added.
