I was reading through some national dailies where EFCC accused Mrs Toyin Saraki for her alleged involvement in a multi million naira misappropriation of bank loan and laundering of funds said to belong to the kwara state government during her husband’s reign as the executive governor of the state.

The first question that comes to my mind is; why the false allegations and baseless accusations at this crucial point in time when there is a political imbroglio surrounding the country at the moment. In recent times, the country has been battling with severe backlash and possible ways to bring to an end the current political crisis in the country and most importantly in the National Assembly.

EFCC’s invitation of Mrs Toyin Saraki over an alleged involvement in money laundering and misappropriation of funds is what I refer to as “Sentiment of the highest ranking” judging from the fact that the invitation is coming at a time when the prosperous family is facing and gradually overcoming the challenges of the last general elections, is indeed the national assembly elections in the changing the face of Nigeria’s politics and history.

It is indeed surprising that after eight years of Saraki’s administration as governor of Kwara State, the EFCC suddenly realises the need to invite Mrs Saraki for a sentimental and a pock barrel questioning. The anti economic crime commission’s target at a woman with an unblemished character without a genuine proof can be described as chasing of shadows all in the name of acting to a script sponsored by some godfathers.

To many Nigerians, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is a Nigerian law enforcement agencies that is meant to investigate financial crimes such as advance fee fraud and money laundering. So it’s also the expectations of the crime commissioners not to distract itself from following their stated vision and mission objectively.

According to the stated mission and vision of the agency, which “An agency operating to the best international standards and leading the fight against economic and financial crimes in Nigeria and to rid Nigeria of economic and financial crimes and to effectively coordinate the domestic efforts of the global fight against money laundering and terrorist financing.”

To the best of my knowledge, I can candidly say the economic crime commission had defeated the purpose of its establishment by becoming a hyponym, Inhuman and making a barbaric whistle call from an impostor in the southwest region of the country. EFCC should be independent of anybody irrespective of the juicy offers being made by some corrupt, fascinorous, subvertige and stratagems individuals who believe the best way to be important is having the whole of Nigeria at their disposal.

EFCC invitation of Toyin Saraki ended in a banal way and contains nothing new or fresh and the crime commission should be cautioned not to cause any more chaos in its mission to rid Nigeria free of corrupt practises. This reckless allegations and incongruent attempt to pull down the humanitarian and global positive Image of this woman by an overzelous sets of people will not be accepted.

Barrister Toyin Saraki has continued in her relentless efforts to save and reduce child mortality rate in the society, this was being made possible through her Wellbeing Foundation project where she remains the founder and the international campaigner for maternal, newborn an child health right as well as empowerment to reverse the vicious cycle of poverty in the society by easing its less privilege members into a state of Wellbeing.

Dear Economic Financial Crimes Commission, bringing false accusations against a peaceful “Being” with a congruent character is unconstitutional because they represent a selective prohibition that inhibits free expressions.

Conclusively, It is in my humble opinion that the agency desist from being used as a tool to torment innocent individuals working hard to impact on lives and society.
