*Gov. Ahmed may announce Special Advisers this week.

Former Director-General of former Kwara State Speaker, Hon Razaq Atunwa’s constituency campaign project, Pharmacist Kale Ayo; Chief of Staff to the former lawmaker representing Ilorin West/Asa Federal constituency, Hon Moshood Mustapha, Alhaji AbdulRazaq Soliu (Abosioyoyan); the Chairman of the Kwara State Road Maintenance Agency (KWARMA), Engr. S.S Warah and a one-time Supervisory Councillor in Ilorin Local Government, Alhaja Rahmat Oganija, are among those that finally made the nominees' list submitted by the Ilorin West council caucus over the weekend, National Pilot can report.

Others who reportedly made the list include, Salman Wahab Ololele from Ogidi; a former member of Kwara State Polytechnic Governing Board and former Special Assistant (Adult Education), Taiwo Alabi from Ojuekun/Saraumi and former Special Assistant, Secondary Health, Dr Ibrahim Gambari from Adewole ward.

Although six nominees each were requested to be selected by each of the sixteen local governments in the state, Ilorin West finally submitted 14 names including that of former Commissioner for Energy, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi and former Chief of Staff to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, Alhaji Toyin Sanusi.

The list, according to a highly placed source in the local government, also include Hajia Fumilayo Mustapha from Adewole ward, an aide to Hon Segilola AbdulKadir (Ilorin Central), Alhaji Yahaya Yaradua from Baboko, Mallam Shuaib Baba Agaka (Magaji Ngeri Central), and former Chairman of All Nigeria’s Peoples Party (ANPP), Taiye Eleja from Ajikobi and Hon Rufia Bolakale from Oloje were also among the nominees.

Speaking further on the issue, the source said all the nominees from the council were nominated by the party caucuses and debunked the rumour that there had been protest from some quarters about the list.

Meanwhile, strong indications emerged on Sunday that the state Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed may finally announce some of the 10 Special Advisers expected to work with him in his cabinet this week, this medium has gathered.

Those that may likely be named this week, it was further learnt, include Security, Political Matters, Youth Empowerment and Finance, among others.

The appointments are said to be of those considered strategic to stabilising the government in its early stage.

The governor, last Tuesday had written to the Kwara State House of Assembly seeking its nod to appoint 10 special advisers to run the cabinet with him in line with section 192 (1 & 2) of the 1999 Constitution.

Ahmed at a recent Radio Kwara Programme tagged “Governor Explains” had attributed the delay in the appointment of some of his cabinet members to the financial cash-crunch that has hit most states of the federation as a result of the drop in the allocation revenue and accruals to states.

National Pilot had also reported that former special advisers like Raheem Adedoyin (Communications), Comrade Bisi Fakoyode (Labour Matters) and Alhaji Amusa Bello (Security) among others may be on their way back as they have been reportedly pencilled down for reappointment.

According to a reliable source, who confided in this medium because he was not authorised to speak on the matter on Saturday, the recent home visit of the leader of the party in the state, Senator Bukola Saraki has “tidied up things in this regard and the Governor is expected to announce the list of Special Advisers this week.

“Yes, I can tell you that the announcement of some of the 10 Advisers is likely to take place this week.

“Though he has written to the House of Assembly in this regard but that is just to inform it about the appointment in line with constitutional requirement. It does not mean he would have to appoint all of them at once.

“Some of the Special Advisers that are considered strategic for now, like Security, Finance, Empowerment among others are likely to be announced.

“Most of the lists of the nominees across the local governments have been submitted and everything seems to be set now but of course, with list of the Special Advisers first”, the highly placed source added.
