JAAC: 16 LGs share N1.1bn in July from Federation Account

Kwara State Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) has disbursed N1, 164, 976, 644.79b to the 16 Local Government Areas from the Federation Account for the month of July.

Addressing journalists shortly after the meeting on Tuesday, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Mr. Benjamin Fatigun said, "The Gross Statutory Allocation for the month of July stood at N1,719,255,369.74 as total amount distributable among the 16LGs was N1,164,976,644.79."

He explained that the fund was appropriated in line with law guiding the local government account which include Teachers salary; Teachers Special Allowance; LG and LGEA pension among others.

Fatigun stressed that the distribution of the allocations among the LGs was done in accordance with section 4(2) of the state Joint Local Government Account Law (cap80) as amended by Law 15 of 2001.

The perm sec reiterated that the state government has placed high premium on welfare of the people by ensuring payment of pension and worker's salary.

He urged workers to be optimistic as the government would continue to ensure prompt payment of their salaries.
