...to commission 200 shops in 3months
Offa community has budgetted N300million for the reconstruction of the Owode market which was burnt recently.
The Secretary-General of Offa Descendants’ Union (ODU), Chief (Mrs.) Wosilat Atinuke McCarthy has disclosed in an interview with Pilot Business.
The market was consumed by fire on May 15, leaving 500 shops and other properties worth N1billion destroyed.

On the spot visit by Pilot Business on Friday shows that 200 shops have reached 70% of completion.
Speaking with Pilot Business, McCarthy said "the community has projected over N300million for reconstruction of the burnt market".
"We have spent about N20million for the project now and we are going further because as soon as we put the Decking we allow it to dry-up and lay the foundation for 2 other blocks."
According to her, the Royal Majesty (Olofa of Offa) wants the shops commissioned during the Eidl-Kabir (Ileya) festival.
The site supervisor, Engr. Lateef Bello, said "by our own design, we have 352 shops all together but we are presently constructing 200 shops".
He urged prospective shop owners to create passage in the market for easy accessibility.
He said “potential shop-owners should not block the roads, you can see the design that we have done now, we created entrances in every one of the shops".
Bello stressed that they should obey the laid down rules and regulations in the market as the community is providing enough shops for their businesses.
