Kwara petrol stations suspend sales over unstable fuel price

Some petrol stations in Ilorin have suspended sales of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) popularly known as petrol over unstable price of the product, as commercial motor drivers called for reduction in the produce for stable economy

The problem of the unstable prices has affected some of the petrol stations along old Jebba road, Fate road, Tanke, Muhammed Muritala road, Ilorin/ Ajasse Ipo road among other places.

One of the dealers of Petroleum product in the state, the owner of ABDEC Oil and Gas, Alhaji Mudashir Usman, who spoke with Pilot Business, on Thursday, said, 'no doubt that the unstable prices of the PMS have greatly affected marketers of PMS.

"The case of unstable price of PMS is not a new issue in fuel business in Nigeria, but it required lasting solution because of its socio-economic implication to the country and the national development

Mudashir, who advised other oil marketers in the country to cooperate with government to address inflation, said "Inflation will always lead to stagnant economy. People should always sell with little gain in order not to inflict economy hardship on the people".

Meanwhile, commercial motor operators have called on the Federal Government to critically intervene in the prices of petroleum products.

A taxi driver in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, Mallam Nasiru Muiz in an interview with Pilot Business, stated that many of the taxi drivers are no longer in operation because of the increase in prices of petroleum product.

Another taxi driver, Mr Idris Aboluji enjoined government at all levels to support the security agencies in the country to tackle the challenges of oil pipe vandalisation.

He noted that vandals are another set of problem mitigating against distributions of petroleum products in Nigeria.
