Unfortunately, d act of kidnapping is on the rise in Nigeria and many other countries as well. A majority of the time, it happens right under people's noses.
1. Realise kidnappings can take place in many scenarios. It could be in a grocery store, or maybe a large shopping mall. You should always beware.
2. Observe the person you suspect to be the kidnapper and the child as well. This can be important as you may be asked what they looked like later on.
3. Stay a few feet away from them, and act like you are just walking around.
4. Listen to their dialogue. Obviously, if the woman/man keeps insisting on the child to come with them, it's most likely a kidnapping.
5. Watch to see if they take the child. If the child looks frightened or screams, you must get help! Even if the child doesn't look scared, they may not know this person may be hurting them.
6.Notify a security guard or call the police immediately. This can't wait.
7. Stay close to the pair and make sure they don't get away. Yell out and let everyone know this person is trying to kidnap a little child.
8.Go over safety rules if you have any kids and teach them not to speak to strangers, take candy from them, etc.
9.Teach children that strangers could also be people who live next door, or members of a family. Teach them not to go with anyone without your approval, or walk away from you in any store.
