Education Scribe urges govt on vocational trainings, skills

Kwara State Government has been called upon to further assist Primary and Secondary schools in the state towards implementation of vocational trainings and skills acquisition in their curriculums.

The Executive Secretary, Ilorin West Local Government Education Authority, Alhaji Uthman Animashaun made the call while speaking with Pilot Education at the graduation ceremony of Abata Baba Oyo Primary School in the area last Wednesday.

The programme which also coincided with exhibition of various art works by pupils of the school such as bead making, wire works, aluminium, electrical work, shoes and bags of different sizes among others.

Animashaun said with adequate support from government on skills acquisition in the schools, that would provide opportunities for pupils and students to enable them be self-reliant and support their parents.

He commended the school management for successful tutoring of the pupils, adding that they would forever remain indebted to the school.

The scribe advised the graduands not to relent in the training acquired but rather strive to increase their knowledge after graduation.

Earlier, the Head teacher, Alhaji Abdulsalam Ahmed said the school has taken a giant stride in ensuring that the Nigeria national policy on education is brought into limelight.

Ahmed said it is significant as it was the first in the state history where primary school pupils were trained successfully on vocational training.
