Workers in Kwara State, particularly those in the ministries and various parastatals in the state failed to resume to their different duty positions after long Sallah break, National Pilot can report.
It would be recalled that the Federal Government had last Thursday declared Friday and Monday as public holidays for the celebration of Eid-el-Fitri which marked end of fasting period for Muslims.
Our correspondent who visited some of the ministries and parastatals reported that majority of the workers resumed late to work and close for the day job as early as 2pm.
As at 10 am on Tuesday majority have not resume to their duty posts while others did not bother to come to work at all. Some of the workers were also seen gisting about the celebration as they converge in twos and threes.
One of the workers at the state Ministry of Health who does not want her in print attributed the lateness to the long holiday, saying that many people travelled to their different communities and would just be returning today (Tuesday).
She expressed optimism that things would gradually improve as the day pass by, especially from Wednesday when majority of the staff were expected to have returned from the break.
She said that such situation is normal for those of them working in the ministries as people find it difficult to resume to their different working places after yuletide.
However, the situation was different on Wednesday when National Pilot visited some of the ministries. The atmosphere is very different compared to the situation on Tuesday as workers were seen in their different offices.
