Policeman promoted for fabricating bullet proof vest

The Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, has directed the promotion of Sergeant Godwin Osayi to the rank of inspector for fabricating bullet proof vest from local materials.
Arase gave the directive when he addressed members of Police/Public Community Relations Committee in Bauchi, Bauchi State, on Wednesday.
Arase also directed the promotion of nine officers, led by Corporal Bala Mohammed, who had mounted a Guard of Honour, for their professionalism.
He said modern policing was no longer possible without the assistance from the members of the public.
He said given their current strength, the police could not be everywhere without the help of the public.
Arase said the PCRC should be seen and must be seen as the same all over the country and should shun bribery and unnecessary detention.
He urged members of PCRC in the state to always liaise with the police hierarchy to ensure that unnecessary detention and collection of bribes were stemmed.
