With Ramadan coming to an end, hospitality players in Ilorin metropolis are gearing up to stage a gig celebrating the end of the holy month, which will come to an end either on Friday or Saturday.

It is a generally acclaimed fact that the sales and patronage of the hospitality outlet fell drastically during the holy month, and most operators in the sector have since being praying towards the end of the fasting period.

Speaking with After Hours on Wednesday, a cool spot operator whose shop is located along Maraba road, narrated how she hardly make N10,000 daily unlike before the commencement of Ramadan where she makes an average of N100,000 daily.

She however expressed optimism about improved sales as Ramadan is gradually winding down, adding that she plans to have a live band to entertain her customers on the Sallah Day and the second day of Sallah.

“We usually experience low sales during Ramadan, people hardly come out to enjoy themselves, unlike before Ramadan when I used to make an average of N100,000, i hardly make N10,000 now. That is why we will be hosting our customers to celebrate end of Ramadan, where a live band will be on hand to entertain our customers,” she added.

Also speaking with After Hours, a night club operator around Government Reservation Area (GRA) Ilorin narrated how since the inception of Ramadan he hasn't opened his night club, said “the patronage has been discouraging and in order not to run at a loss as I will have to pay security, attendants and other workers I had to give everybody a month’s leave. We are however opening back to customers this weekend as we celebrate the end of the Holy month, we have planned a befitting celebration for customers” he added.

Meanwhile, a visit to most brothels in the metropolis shows that they are now wearing new look, while some are busy cleaning their rooms and environs, others are beautifying their compound by repainting the building.
