The Women Leader, Kwara State All Progressives Congress (APC), Hajia Sarat Adebayo has expressed optimism that the 35 percent affirmative action for women in the state will be realised in the yet-to-be inaugurated cabinet of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.
Describing the directive of the leader of the party in the state and the senate president, Bukola Saraki for local councils to include a woman each in the list of the commissioners and Special advisers submitted for consideration for appointment as a welcome development, Adebayo promised that her constituency will not be disappointed.

She said the move would enhance productivity in governance in the state and saluted the courage of the leader for giving women in the state their place of pride in the scheme of things.
According to her, the development is fulfilling part of the slogan that it is good here by giving women the premium stage to showcase what they have in providing good leadership to see to the yearnings of our people, especially the downtrodden.
“This is a signal of hope for us that once you are part of the system, you will not be disappointed.
“We appreciate the leader and the Governor for giving us a place of pride and the directive to nominate our own for consideration as commissioners and special advisers and we hope by the end of the day, our 35 percent affirmative will be realistic if we could have at least 8 to be considered for appointment.
“We are serving a dual role based on passion and compassion to deliver and we believe in supporting what the leader has been doing, which is sustaining the legacies of late Olusola Saraki, who brought Kwara Women out of the kitchen to fulfil their role and potentials in partnering with the government to develop the state”, she added.
Adebayo who noted that the women constitute 65 percent of the voting pattern in the state, enjoined women and youth to embrace the political process in the state the more to answer most of the questions frequently asked by them.
“The most growing industry now in the state is politics and people are now more conscious and asking questions that have been difficult for some in power to answer. This is an opportunity for them to answer it themselves.
“This is part of the campaign promise of the party. It is no more a mirage that once you are part of the system and you don't sit on the fence, definitely you will be compensated.
On suspension of some members of the party for allegedly engaging in anti-party activities, the party's woman leader who said it is in line with the party constitution, noted that enforcement of suspensions are corrective measures to serve as deterrent and curtail others that might harbour such desire in the future.
