Suicide Bombings: IGP orders special stop and search operations

Following intelligence report, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase, has directed the immediate commencement of special stop and search on the nation’s roads and highways with emphasis on roads in and out of major cities and towns.
Also, the IGP appealed to citizens to bear with the Nigeria Police Force during this security operation which, he said, is a temporary measure put in place to address the intelligence received.
A statement issued by the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Abayomi Shogunle, on Wednesday, however, explained that the special security measure, stop and search is in no way a return of roadblocks.
To this end, Shogunle said; “Any unprofessional conduct by any police man should be reported at www.stopthe bribes.net or the nearest Police Station.”
The Police spokesman advised members of the public to cooperate with the Police operatives by providing answers to questions that may be asked as well as allowing their vehicles to be searched.
