Ahmed, Atunwa, others enjoins Muslims on economic recovery

Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has called on Muslims to use the season of Ramadhan to pray for speedy economy recovery and growth in the country. Ahmed in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, AbdulWahab Oba, said the country seems to be experiencing unusual economic and security challenges that required concerted efforts and prayers from everyone to get it back on track.

He implored Muslims to use the season to pray fervently for national unity, religious harmony and re-energising of national economy. Ahmed advised Muslim Ummah to see the fasting period beyond abstinence from food, but as another opportunity for enhanced generosity and spirituality. In the same vein, Hon. Razak Atunwa representing Asa/Ilorin West Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives has called on Muslims across Nigeria to utilize this sacred month to fervently seek the face of Allah and intercede for Nigeria. In a statement issued and signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Olawale Rotimi, Atunwa said beyond refraining from eating and drinking the period is essentially for renewal of spirit and attainment of righteousness in the sight of Allah. Atunwa further urged Muslims to ensure they let go of selfish interests for the progress of Nigeria. "Ramadan is a period of intense prayers to Allah, a period to develop and strengthen our powers of self-control so that we can resist wrong desires and guard against evil. As we join Muslims across the world in observing this Holy Month, we must afford to utilize the opportunity of our closeness to God to pray fervently for the peace, stability and progress of Nigeria" he said. Similarly, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje has urged Nigerians to use the period of Ramadan to pray for the return of peace, love and prosperity to the country. Baraje gave the advice while felicitating with Muslim Ummah on the period ofRamadan, asking them to use the period to seek for divine intervention of Allah and pray fervently for the progress of the country. He urged members of Boko-Haram sect or perpetrators of violence and destruction in the name of Islam all over the world to refrain from tarnishing the name of the religion. The party chieftain implored Muslims to seek maximum benefits from the Ramadanperiod by giving alms to the needy, increase their zakat, commitment to the worship of Allah and being helpful to all kind of people as taught by Prophet Mohammed. The APC Chieftain commended Muslims for ensuring uniformity in the commencement of this year's Ramadan fast, which has demonstrated unity among Muslim Ummah all over the world. Also, the former Labour Party Governorship Aspirant in the last election in Kwara State, Engineer Abdulhakeem Adelaja Amao has admonished Muslims to use the sacred month to fervently pray for peaceful co-existence among religious adherents in the country. Amao, in a statement released exclusively to National Pilot in Ilorin on Saturday also enjoined Muslims to seek divine intervention of Allah and pray for the progress of the state and Nigeria as a whole. He implored them to seek maximum benefits from the Ramadan period by giving alms to the needy; increase their zakat and worship Allah. The former aspirant urged Muslims to avail themselves of boundless opportunities in the holy month to seek forgiveness and divine intervention for Nigeria. Meanwhile, the Emir of llorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari on Friday prayed for Nigeria to further achieve economic fortunes and overcome all challenges confronting it. The monarch offered the prayer at his Palace in llorin while receiving the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki who was on a courtesy call to the emir. Sulu-Gambari who expressed joy over the emergence of Saraki as Senate President prayed for his success in the new assignment. The traditional ruler prayed that Saraki's tenure as senate president would positively turn around the fortunes of the country.
