The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has outlined strategies aimed at boosting the revenue of the agency in apparent attempt to make the agency a major contributor to government coffer.

The bold move, according to the authority, also seeks to improve the revenue base of airports across the country for greater productivity and less dependence on government.
Ilorin International Airport is not left out in order to achieve this task in generating revenue for the Federal Government.
Earlier, FAAN Managing Director, Engr. Saleh Dunoma at a meeting in Lagos lastweek Tuesday, established special task force on the revenue enhancement headed by himself.
The meeting with regional and airports managers is coming on the heels of FAAN's debtors' inability to offset the huge debts.
The MD urged them to recover revenue at the point of collection as and when due, applying sanctions where necessary.
The Airport Managers were also mandated to step up efforts in recovering debts and initiating non-aeronautical revenue streams in order to meet up with revenue targets based on the Authority's 2015 approved budget.
In a chat with Pilot Aviation, a reliable source, who pleaded anonymity at Ilorin International Airport on Thursday because of the sensitivity of the issue, said that all the agencies in the airport are debtors of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to FAAN.
According to him the precise amounts owed by these agencies cannot be disclosed as few of them are paying their debts even at the time of the chat.
He stressed that the special task force is hanging on their neck to recover the revenue in accordance with laid down rules.
He noted though that the tax varies such as electricity bill, rent charges, service recovery among others.
The source reiterated that some of the agencies includes Lubcon oil, Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Nigeria Meteorological Agency (NIMET), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and Car Hires.
Others are Nigeria Port Health, Fire Service, Sky Aviation Holding Company Limited (SAHCOL), security agencies like the Nigeria Airforce, Nigeria Custom Service (NCS), Department of State Security (DSS), Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) among others.
Meanwhile, he reiterated that the airport management is doing its best in inviting more companies like financial institutions, eatries to establish their outlets to boost the revenue generation in the airport.
He equally stressed that the management is approaching airliners to patronise Ilorin Int'l airport to operate from Ilorin-Port Harcourt, Ilorin-Enugu, Ilorin-Kano, among others as there are thousands of passengers seeking for such operations.
