First Bank, Prime, others win NNL ties

First Bank FC quest for promotion to the Nigerian top flight yielded another positive result with a 2-1 win against Bendel Insurance in Lagos. The hard earned avictory comes on the heels of last week 2-2 draw at archrivals, Mountain of Fire and Miracles (MFM) FC which added to the Nigeria National League (NNL) match day 1 clash victory. The Bankers have raked in seven points in the three-week old Nigerian second tier league. Newly promoted NNL campaigners, Julius Atete FC defeated more illustrious opponents, MFM 2-1 in the match day 3 clash of the ongoing national league while in Lokoja, Kogi United FC thrashed visiting Yobe Desert Warriors 3-0 the same margin Jigawa Stars walloped Adamawa United in Dutse. Indeed, it was a sweet victories for most host teams as Gateway FC in Abeokuta beat Akwa Starlets 2-1 just as Prime FC defeated Abia Comets 2-0 at the Federal Polytechnic Ground in Ede and Nembe City unsettled Atiba United 2-0 in Ugheli.
