18 female basketball teams storm Ilorin for National League

No fewer than 18 female basketball clubs from different states have stormed Ilorin for the 2015 National Female Basketball League, holding at the Kwara State Stadium Ilorin.

Speaking in an interview with Pilot Sports on Tuesday, the Technical Commissioner with the Nigeria Basketball Federation of Nigeria, Mr Bello Ajibarede said the league, which kicked off on Tuesday will come to an end next week Thursday.

Bello, who is the coordinator of the tournament said the registered 18 clubs have been divided into two groups, A and B, playing a round rubbing game before a winner will finally emerge in the last day of the tournament.

"We have seen an improvement compared to what we witnessed at the face one of the league, the standard is quite high," he added.

He however expressed disappointment with the facilities he met on ground, adding that the Ilorin Indoor Sport complex facilities used to be the best in the country. He however implore the Kwara state government to rehabilitate and renovate the hall to attract national tournament.

First bank female team are the defending champion of the league.
