Incidents of water shortage would soon become a thing of the past at the University of Ilorin, as strategic moves are on to expand the existing dam and drill boreholes in strategic locations to ensure uninterrupted supply of water on campus.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. AbdulGaniyu Ambali (OON), revealed this recently when he received in his office, a Medical Anthropologist and Associate Professor from the Kansas State University, USA, Dr. Katherine Rhine, who paid him a courtesy visit.

Ambali also disclosed that a new dedicated power line has been installed and commissioned to improve power supply to the University.

He added that the University is also strengthening its security unit through community security surveillance.

The Vice-Chancellor told the American scholar, “We are glad you are here. We hope to attract some of your other colleagues”.

Earlier in her address, Rhine, who had been at the University for almost a month, expressed happiness for the warm reception given her by Unilorin.

She noted that she has been visiting Nigeria for the past 13 years and had already visited about half of the states of the federation.

She disclosed that she had worked with women living with HIV in the no northern part of the country, adding that she is currently working on road accidents in Nigeria.

The American Anthropologist submitted that Nigeria's health practitioners are among the best around the world, saying that they deserve more respect from the international community.
