Gbajabiamila, the preferred candidate of the APC hierarchy for speaker, lost narrowly to Yakubu Dogara, who was backed by the PDP and other APC members.

But the House has not known peace since then, unable to pick its principals officers amidst a brawl last week.

Wednesday night’s meeting was brokered by Abu Ibrahim, a senator from Katsina State.

Gbajabiamila led 29 other reps loyal to him to the meeting at the conference hall of the first lady at the presidential villa.

The meeting started around 9.55pm with the arrival of Buhari and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.

The lawmakers, from the six geo-political zones, arrived the venue in two white Coaster buses.

Last weekend, Buhari had also met Ahmad Lawan, his preferred candidate for senate president, and some senators loyal to him.

Saraki was elected senate president against the wishes of the APC hierarchy.
