A former gubernatorial aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the last general elections in Kwara State, Mohammed Dele Belgore, SAN, has reportedly approached the National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for consideration in the President Mohammadu Buhari's cabinet, National Pilot, has learnt.

Belgore, who was also the guber candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in 2011 in the state, is reportedly interested in occupying the state's ministerial slot in the Buhari's cabinet.

This medium learnt that the former guber candidate reportedly approached Tinubu to anoint him as the minister to be from the state with a view to checkmating Senator Bukola Saraki’s political dominance in Kwara State politics.

He was alleged to have hinged his argument on the recent disagreement between Saraki and Tinubu over the National Assembly crisis.

But the APC National Leader was reported to have directed him to lobby Saraki, who he acknowleged as the party's leader in the state.

Belgore, who was formally of the APC in its early stages in the state, allegedly fell out with Tinubu for handing over the party structure to Saraki who led five governors from the new PDP to the party.

According to a source who is also in the know, Belgore also allegedly enlisted the support of the Emir of Borgu, Niger State, Alhaji Haliru Dantoro, over the matter.

Dantoro, who bestowed on Tinubu Jagaban of Borgu title, is believed to be also very close to Buhari and the APC national leader.

“After the defeat of former President Goodluck Jonathan and the crushing defeat the PDP suffered in the state, he (Belgore) approached Tinubu some few weeks back to lobby him over ministerial appointment in the yet- to -be inaugurated cabinet of President Buhari.

“He also told Tinubu to support him on the basis that he (Belgore) could also be used to checkmate Saraki politically in Kwara.

“Belgore also took his appeal to other friends of President Buhari and the APC national leader to help him out on his ministerial ambition. He visited the Emir of Borgu, Haliru Dantoro, who is believed to be very close to Buhari to seek his support for his ministerial ambition”.

“But Tinubu told him in clear terms to meet Saraki who is the leader of the party in the state over any issue relating to the party”, the source said.
