Our tax contributes to the growth of Kwara economy – Marketers

The Kwara state Marketers Association have stressed that their taxes collected by both state and local governments has contributed to the growth of economic activities in the state. This was disclosed in a separate chats with the President of Marketers Association popularly called Baba-oloja, Alhaji Tunde Jimoh and the Women Leader, Iyaoloja of the state, Alhaja Adenike Abdulkarim Lambe

The President said "our major contribution to boost business activities is achieved through taxation as it plays a crucial role in promoting economic activity and growth." "Through taxation, the state government ensures that resources are channelled towards important projects in the society, while giving succour to the weak." According to him, they have about 170 markets that cut-across all the 16 local government areas in the state and all the marketers in these markets are paying tax without defaulting. Jimoh said, "We have 170 markets spread across the 16 local government areas in the state. Marketers are selling goods to their customers and we are contributing to the economy of the state". "Most of us are paying our taxes as and when due, which is the major Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for the state government." On her part the Iyaoloja stressed that Kwara marketers are appreciative of the atmosphere that is made conducive for them, which was achieved under the leadership of the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki and Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed. He said "there is a shift in the impression that Kwara is a civil servants state considering that now, lots of marketing activities are coming into the state." "The Senator Saraki's administration when he was governor of the state built the Mandate Ultramodern market with marketers coming from both north and Lagos to do transactions". "One can confirm that in the last ten years, lots of industrial and commercial activities have taken place in the state." She reiterated that one singular effort of the administration that confirmed its readiness to open its doors to the private sector was the decision to bring all its business concerns into the state. The Market leaders lauded the emergence of Senator Bukola Saraki as the Senate President, urging Nigerians to support him as he pilot Nigerians towards achieving dividend of democracy.
