Ansarul Islam Society of Nigeria at the weekend said it is working assiduously towards securing approval for the operation of Muhammad Kamaldeen University, Ilorin, adding that the feat would undoubtedly be regarded as the major achievement of the association’s founder. The Chairman, Ilorin branch of the association, Alhaji Mahmud Alfa-Nla stated this in his keynote address delivered at the programme organised to mark the 73rd anniversary of the society in Ilorin, last Friday. Towards achieving the feat, Alfa-Nla disclosed that all necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure all the university meet the National Universities Commission (NUC's) requirements and standard of granting final approval to the institution to be able to operate fully. He said the university and association's Founder, late Sheikh Muhammad Kamaludeen Al-Adabby, despite his Islamic background knew knowledge values and placed much emphasis on western education, adding that it was the same reason he established several schools both in and outside Kwara State. According to him, “the society can presently boast of 36 senior and junior secondary schools including Muhammad Kamaludeen College. The society is also proud of over 100 Mahd Adabiyyah and Kamaliyyah institutes throughout the federation. “We are awaiting the approval of the proposed Muhammad Kamaludeen University, Ogidi, Ilorin Insha Allah very soon. In his lecture, Sheikh Sulaiman Habeebullahi Alore, described the late pioneer Mufti of Ilorin as somebody who utilised his longevity on earth to impact positively on the people, saying that Ansarul Islam is one of the good examples of his good works while alive. “Number of years spent on earth would amount to nothing if it could not be reported that many people benefitted from your existence. Also, if you truly worship Allah while alive, after your demise people will continue to hear your name as if you are still in existence”, Alore said.
