Unilorin student beats robber to death

A four hundred level student of the University of Ilorin, Uboye Ortega, has reportedly beat a suspected robber to stupor at Tanke Oke-Odo area of the state. The suspected robber, who cannot be identified as at the time of filling the report went into Uboye's room at Anike Villa to steal at about 8.00pm last week. Pilot Crime gathered that the suspect came in with a torch light and pointed the light directly at Ugboye, who was in the room. "A guy, who is not known in the area and also suspected to be a robber came into the villa, used the torch that was with him to light the room where Ugboye stays to check whether someone was in the room. "Unknown to him that the occupant of the room was around, he (Ugboye) waited till the suspect entered the room. "As a result of him breaking into the room, Ugboye gave him the beating of his life because he knew he came into his room to steal his properties". Ugboye was said to have used a belt to beat the suspected robber, who later ran away to an unidentified destination. The source further said "Unknown to Ugboye that the suspect that ran to an unknown destination later died". The suspect's dead body was seen at a junction leading to the villa and some bruises were seen on his body. The corpse was said to have been deposited at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital UITH. When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the incident. "It was reported that a guy identified as Ugboye Ortega beat a suspected robber, who came to rob in his house. "Unfortunately, he died from the beating as some bruises were seen on his body".
