President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja hosted family and friends to the breaking of Ramadan fast. Buhari is yet to relocate into the Presidential Villa over three weeks after he was sworn-in. The President’s personal effects are said to have been moved into the villa in a process signaling his relocation from his private residence at Aso Drive, just behind the Presidential Villa. Buhari has been operating from the Defence House located in Maitama since he was declared as the president-elect. It was reliably learnt on Sunday evening that Buhari, who spent the weekend in his home-town of Daura in Katsina State, returned to Abuja and was at the Villa on Sunday afternoon ostensibly to see for himself the arrangement in place for the evening religious exercise. However, he was not expected to spend the night at the Villa, which renovation has only just been completed by the retainer maintenance company, Julius Berger Plc. The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, confirmed that the President would only break his fast at the Presidential Villa on Sunday but would not spend the night there. The presidential spokesman also confirmed that the President has commenced the process of relocating to the Villa with the movement of his personal effects into his official residence. Adesina however did not say when President Buhari would finally settle down in the Aso Rock Presidential Villa. When asked to confirm whether Buhari had finally relocated to the Presidential Villa, Adesina said: “No. “But it is a process. “It has begun. “They have started taking things there. “I think he will be there to break his fast today but I am not sure he will sleep there.” The Special Adviser on Media to the President confirmed on Sunday night that the breaking of the fast by the President actually took place in the Villa. It would be recalled that the Presidency had blamed the inability of Buhari to promptly move into the Villa on the renovation work which had not been completed.
