Anti-party: Kwara APC to suspend Olododo, 5 others

The Kwara state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded arrangement to sanction more of its members accused of anti-party activities during the last general election, National Pilot can report. Barring any last minute changes, more party members will fall under the hammer as the party, after investigating the various petitions against the affected members, having been found guilty, according to a highly placed party source. It would be recalled that the party had some weeks back, suspended Senator Ahmed Muhammed, Hon. Adamu Sabi, Muhammed Sunu Gofe, Muhammed Omar Bio and Aliyu Kora Sabi all from Baruten Local Government and bagged between one year and six months suspensions each. The party however promised, while announcing the names of the suspended members that it is still investigating some other members accused of working against the party’s interest during the last general election. This medium was however reliably informed by a highly placed source that the committee investigating the accused members have concluded its investigation and submitted same to the party for prompt action. “The committee submitted the name to the party leadership last week and the party will act on the recommendations any moment from now. “Alhaji Abdulganiyu Olododo a party chieftain from Ilorin East Local Government Area of the state was accused of working against the party’s interest during the last general election, due to his inability to get the party’s nod to represent Ilorin East and South at the Green chambers of the National Assembly”. “Other party members found guilty of anti party activities, according to the source, are three prominent members of the party from Ifelodun Local Government Area, who were alleged to have overtly worked for the candidate of the opposition at the State Assembly election. They have all been recommended for suspension ranging from a year to six months. While two members from Kaiama ward II were also accused to have worked against the interest of the party after losing out at the primaries. “They was accused to have campaigned openly against the party’s candidate during the last electioneering period and were recommended to be expelled from the party as entreaty from the party hierarchy to rein them in were unsuccessful as they refused all plea to work with the party’s candidate, ” he added. The party’s state secretary, Chief Bode Adekanye, in a chat with this medium at his office on Tuesday, acknowledged that some other party members are under investigation by the party for anti party activities. He, however, denied knowledge of the committee submitting its report, advising this medium to wait for the party to come up with the committee’s recommendation at the appropriate time. “It is not in our interest to be suspending members, disciplinary measure in any form is awarded to whip in line erring members, if the party receives any other genuine petition against the conduct of any member, we will look into it and decide accordingly in the utmost interest of the party. “The rumours as you said ...you cannot do away with rumours in any gathering, I can confirm to you that we are investigating members from other local governments, we received petition against them and we are looking into it, the party will take official step on the accused at the appropriate time,” he added.
