Unveiled! 8th Kwara Assembly Principal Officers

Less than 24 hours to the termination of the 7th legislature of the Kwara State House of Assembly, National Pilot can exclusively unveil the six principal officers expected to preside over the affairs of the House.

The state leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), it was gathered, had on Monday, after caucus meeting allegedly at the party’s secretariat, adopted the issue of zoning and religious factors to determine some of the positions, it was further learnt. According to a lawmaker-elect, who confided in this medium on the issue, Hon Ali Ahmad (Ilorin South) has been appointed by the party to lead the house during the 8th session as its speaker. Ahmad will take over from the speaker, Barrister Razak Atunwa (Owode/Onire), who has been elected to the House of Representatives to represent Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency. To take over the position of the Deputy Speaker currently being occupied by Hon Gana Yisa (Patigi), is Matthew Okedare from the Moro axis, who replaced Hon Aremu Adifa (Lanwa/Ejodongari). The position of the House Leader, currently being occupied by the outgoing majority leader, Abdulkareem AbdulGaniyu (Share/Oke-Ode) has been ceded to Hassan Oyeleke (Essa/Shawo/Igbodun), a ranking lawmaker from Offa Local Government. He will be deputised by the current Chairman, House Committee on Commerce, Industry and Women Affairs, Hon Segilola Abdulkadir (Ilorin Central) who is also a returnee lawmaker The position of the Chief Whip, currently being held by Hon Audu Liman Saidu (Edu constituency), the outgoing, will now be occupied by Alhaji Umar Mohammed Gunu (Ilesha/Gwanara), a new member-elect. Gunu, it was also learnt, will be superintendent by the chairman, House Service Committee and a member of House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ebun Owolabi from Ekiti constituency. Owolabi will be replacing Hon Sikirat Anako (Odo-Ogun constituency)
