Embattled Kwara Police Chief dismissed, arraigned …eight months to retirement

The embattled Assistant Commissioner of Police, attached to the Crime Investigation Department, Kwara State Police Command, Okubo Aboye, who was recently whisked away to Abuja over the alleged kidnappers’ vehicle found in his house, has been dismissed, National Pilot has learnt.

Also, Aboye, who was sacked eight months to his retirement, this medium learnt, had been reportedly arraigned by the Police Force Headquarters over the alleged Hilux van found in his possession.

This medium had exclusively reported that the embattled ACP, was arrested by a Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad from the Police Headquarters, Abuja, following a tip off.

This paper gathered that some suspected kidnappers kidnapped a victim from Ekiti State and dumped their operations Hilux van at Tanke, Ilorin, following the death of its driver in the process.

According to a police source, the abandoned vehicle had a tracker, which aided in tracing when it was abandoned.

The embattled police chief, it was gathered, allegedly ordered his men to evacuate the abandoned vehicle to his house before the arrival of the special federal anti-robbery squad from Abuja.

The embattled ACP, said to be of south-eastern extraction, the source alleged, told the squad that the wanted Hilux was parked at the 'A Division', Ilorin and later ordered his 'boys' to move it away from his house.

But the squad, it was further gathered tracked the vehicle to his house where the gateman, told the squad that the vehicle was his boss' latest car, which he, intended to take to the village.

Another police source, who spoke with this medium last night, divulged that the embattled ACP had been dismissed and he is facing trial in one of Abuja High Courts.

‘’ACP Aboye has been dismissed over his alleged involvement in the illegal possession of a kidnapper’s van in Ilorin. Now, he is facing trial in one of the Abuja High Courts. Unfortunate for him, he is due for retirement in the next eight months’’, the source hinted.
