May 29: Kwara inaugurates 21-man c’ttee

The Kwara State Government Wednesday, inaugurated a 21-man transition committee for the second term swearing-in ceremony of Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed.
Chaired by Alhaji Kola Yusuf and Permanent Secretary, General Services, Alhaji Musa Shehu, as its secretary, the committee yesterday reeled out a six-day activities to usher in the governor for a second term held at the Governors offices, Ilorin.
It however declared that the celebration will be low-keyed.
Briefing newsmen, Yusuf said the ceremony will reflect the "mood of the nation", adding that the celebration will be low-keyed because of the "general paucity of fund across the country, which calls for sober reflection.
He attributed the victory of Governor Ahmed at the April 11 poll to his achievements during his (the governor's) first term, which he said included completing all inherited a
s well as abandoned projects by his predecessors
"By so doing, he has saved Kwarans from the colossal loss of abandoned projects. Similarly, he initiated ground breaking projects and programmes in education, health, power, agriculture, youth empowerment, and entrepreneurship, which ministered effectively to the needs of the people", he said.
The theme of the inauguration ceremony, Yusuf said was "Making Our Good Better" coined from the governor's slogan of "Its good here".
Other activities lined up for the inauguration by the committee, included a Muslim prayer session this Friday, an inter-denominational church service, an athletics championship competition, the inauguration itself, a command performance and a banquet dinner.
