LG workers salary our priority- New NULGE chair

The newly elected executive members of the National Union of Local Government Employee Association of Nigeria (NULGE), Moro Local Government Chapel Kwara state, has promised to make sure the backlog of local government workers' salary are paid without further delay.

The chairman-elect, Comrade Zakariyau M. Abbas, while speaking on behalf of other elected executives, thanked the staffers of the local government for finding them worthy and entrusting them to pilot the affairs of the union, promising to make sure their expectations are met.

Zakariyau, who emerged unopposed at the election conducted at the Local government’s secretariat at Bode-Saadu, thanked the workers for showing resilience and not allowing the inability of the local government authority to pay salaries affect their attitude to work.

“I want to promise local government workers, that payment of their salary backlog will be our number one priority, we’ll liaise with the relevant authorities, to make sure salaries are promptly paid.

“I however want to commend local government workers, who have remained diligent to work regardless of them being owed salaries, i must say this past month has not being easy for local government workers as the hardship these past weeks has been unbearable,” he added.

Alh. AbdulGaniyu Ajibola, the Executive Chairman of the local government, while acknowledging the outgoing executives cordial relationship with his administration and partnership with the local government administration in implementing workers' friendly programmes enjoined the new executives to build on the achievement of the outgoing comrades, who he described as shining light of Unionism.

“The outgoing executives are shining light of Unionism, they collaborated with us from day one and we carried them along in all our affairs, we in conjunction with them implemented several workers' friendly policies, I implore the incoming union leaders to emulate their predecessor,” he added.
